Being a platform, a foundation, a place for those who feel they have no voice. While also incorporating the teachings of self efficiency and sustainability . Through basic/advanced methods of agriculture, horticulture.
I could only see very little through the security roll down gates. Even though what I saw didn't look so appealing, I still knew that this was it. This is where it all starts. As soon as the super arrived I was on go mode, super excited and ready to see what awaits inside. But before I could even step through the door, I was given a sign. The previous renters from 5 years ago had an ad on the window saying “ Urban art gallery with art supplies, music/video production studio.” My husband and I immediately looked at each other and pointed it out. It was as if this space had called for a revamp ! There was no denying any of this was a coincidence.
My name is Maria but I also go by Spencer . Back in 2017 I was pushed by a friend to start creating art again after a long period of artist block. Then in 2018 I had decided to enter my first group show where I ended up selling my first two pieces of work. Then a year later during the end of December, I decided to curate my own show and brought artists together in a community mural theme. From that day on I knew that helping artists and bringing like minded people together is what I want to do.
I plan on turning this space into a multi purpose studio. Having the main focus on being a platform, a foundation, a place for those who feel they have no voice. While also incorporating the teachings of self efficiency and sustainability . Through basic/advanced methods of agriculture, horticulture, and permaculture. But most importantly to bring awareness to the power of unity and good vibes within the Bronx community.
