EdbMails Office 365 Migration is an excellent solution for automating the Office 365 migration process. In addition to being a desktop program, the software solution also facilitates the migration of multiple email installations to Office 365 as well as between Office 365 environments. When moving email data manually, businesses may rely on custom PowerShell scripts or code that they have pieced together from other sources on the internet. EdbMails, on the other hand, does not necessitate the usage of PowerShell scripts to migrate user data.
Let's take a closer look at this software, paying special attention to the following features:
● Assists you step-by-step with an Office 365 migration plan
● Support for a wide range of migration scenarios
● Automation of the migration process
● Simple and intuitive wizard-driven migration process
● Safe and secure migration
Support for a wide range of migration scenarios

The official Office 365 migration documentation includes a comprehensive list of all currently supported migrations. Most businesses that want to migrate from one Office 365 tenant to another will likely discover that EdbMails can help them with all these scenarios.
When performing Office 365 migration, one of the most difficult aspects is matching users and mailboxes from one environment to another. This procedure can be time-consuming when using native tools and manual connectors.
To give you an example of the migration automation EdbMails offers, the Office 365 Migration tool automatically matches mailboxes between the source and target environments while migrating data. EdbMails makes use of Active Directory features to automatically find the best potential match for each user. There are various established patterns that you can use to find mailboxes that match your criteria. It is also possible to map mailboxes manually. One further useful function provided by EdbMails is the automatic creation and assigning license for mailboxes at the target server if they have not already been set up.
Additionally, EdbMails supports automatic incremental migrations. Using the incremental runs, EdbMails is able to check the source server for any new items and migrate them to the destination server. Once again, this is a fully automated procedure that requires no administrative participation.
Simple and intuitive wizard-driven migration process
When you look for a third-party solution to help migrate your mailboxes to the cloud, you expect an experience that is easier, faster, and more streamlined compared to using native tools to get the job done. With EdbMails Office 365 Migration, the tool enables migrating users even if you have no PowerShell skills.
The software's user interface is extremely wizard-driven and simple to use. Just connect the source and the target server using the necessary credentials EdbMails then takes care of the heavy lifting of migrating the user mailbox data from your Office 365 server.
Safe and secure migration
One area in which EdbMails excels as a migration tool is in the area of security. Security is one of those areas that continues to gain in relevance in today's society. Data security is a significant responsibility for firms that want to ensure they are in compliance with rules and following best practices in data security.
EdbMails Office 365 Migration was created with privacy and security as guiding principles, in addition to holding the highly regarded ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 27018 security certifications. Due to the way the tool is designed, no third parties will have access to your data during the process.
To protect data during the migration, EdbMailsmaintains configuration settings locally and performs in-flight data encryption to protect data during the migration. Also while connecting to Office/Microsoft 365, EdbMails uses cloud SaaS OAuth 2.0 authentication to protect the connection to Office/Microsoft 365 from unauthorized access.
If you have multi factor authentication enabled in your Office/Microsoft 365 environment, EdbMails will work flawlessly with it. As a result, you won't have to change or lower your security settings throughout the transfer.
From the perspective of data integrity, EdbMails offers comprehensive reporting that provides administrators with information and notifications regarding any items or mailboxes that are the source of problems along the route.
In addition, it is important to highlight that EdbMails does not make any changes to the data on the source server. It ensures that your original data is not lost in the event of a problem with the migration process.
4. EdbMails Office 365 tenant migration: An Overview
The first step is to download and install the EdbMails Office 365 migration software, which takes only a few minutes. It is very light-weight due to its ease of download and installation.
You'll see a new interface where you can either log in or try out the ‘Free Trial’ version. We'd like to bring out another intriguing point here. If you choose to log in using a license plan, you won't require a license key because the license is attached to your email address instead. You do not need any of these details to use the free trial, and you may directly log in to the application.
On the following screen, you can perform a variety of recovery and migration operations. Of course, the free trial version allows you to try out all of these features for free. The licensed version provides full access to the application. Because we're dealing with Office 365 Migration, make the appropriate selection.
To connect to source and destination servers, you have two options. One is the classic and the second one is the modern authentication method. Let's go with the Secure OAuth 2.0 Modern authentication and the ‘Automatic Registration’ option and click the ‘Login’ button
The following screen prompts to select the connection methods. I selected the ‘Connect to Mailbox’ option and clicked the ‘Continue’ button.
Provide the appropriate credentials and Sign in by following the on screen option in the Microsoft Authentication page.
The next screen prompts you to load the mailboxes from three options, which are Automatic, CSV and From a Previously Stored list. Choose the option as per the requirement and click the ‘Continue’ button.
EdbMails configures impersonation rights for the Office 365 server automatically. In the event of a failure, you can manually set it by running some simple PowerShell commands as shown in the login screen. Click the button 'Steps To Set Impersonation Rights Manually’, which appears when you select the 'Switch to classic method' option.
e. Main User Interface
Once the mailboxes have been loaded into the main user window, select the mailboxes/folders for migration and set the required options in the right pane. You have the option of performing a full or incremental migration. The first migration is always a complete migration. If you migrate from the same computer to the same target, the subsequent migrations are incremental. By copying your metadata folder from the original PC where EdbMails was installed, you can make the incremental feature work on another computer. There is an option to exclude common folders such as Conversation History and Junk by clicking the 'Exclude Folders' button. In addition, you can migrate mailbox and folder permissions, rules, Global Address Lists, and so on. Check the mailbox usage details by clicking the 'Get Details' button, and the 'Settings' button takes you to the filter page, where you can set filters to migrate specific mail items based on Date, To address, From address, Attachment name, and so on. Now, choose whether to export to PST, migrate to another Office 365 tenant, or use a live Exchange server as the destination.
Now select the method to connect to the target server. Similar to the source server connection here also you have classic as well as Modern authentication methods. Let’s choose the Modern method with Automatic registration and click ’Log in’.
Now you need to select the connection method and sign in by providing the appropriate credentials in the Microsoft Authenticate window. Next, you need to select the method to load mailboxes from the options Automatic, CSV and stored list. Let’s choose Automatic and you will get the list of mailboxes.
Verify the mailboxes, if any mailbox is missing in the list you can load that using a CSV file. Click on the ‘Load Mailboxes using .CSV file’ button for the procedure.
g. Automatic mailbox mapping
EdbMails supports automatic mailbox mapping between the source and the target servers. This option reduces the whole process duration and the effort. In addition, there is an option to map the mailboxes manually as well to map using previous migration process mapping. I selected Automatic mailbox mapping.
Verify the mapping and ensure the option Migration is selected under ‘Action’ at the top right corner of the window and proceed with the migration operation by clicking on the ‘Continue’ button.
The migration progress bar will be displayed stating all the progress details. You can also check the log report of the migration by clicking on the ‘View Log’ button
