We're planting a Vineyard church in Juneau, Alaska! We feel a tug from God to move up to the wooly north and bring God's love to the community--but we need your help!
Why Juneau, Alaska? I mean, seriously--why would a Maryland boy and a WV girl decide to move all the way up to our 49th state to plant a church? Don't folks around here need Jesus? These are probably the two biggest questions we get about the church plant.
The answer to the first question is simply: God. Five years ago, God placed on our hearts the state of Alaska, and more specifically the capital city of Juneau. We struggled a lot at first with the idea of uprooting ourselves from a community and church we love. But God kept at us, and continually revealed all He had in store for us and the community in Juneau. After a trip to Juneau last March, we were completely convinced that this was where we were meant to be! We knew we'd be overwhelmed by Southeast Alaska's beauty, but ultimately we fell in love with all the people we met on our trip. From random people on the street, to folks we linked up with via Facebook--God shined His light on the city in such a vibrant way that we cannot wait to move!
The second question is a bit more nuanced. While we love this area, as mentioned above--we feel absolutely called to Alaska! Alaska is one of the least-churched places in the United States and we feel that God wants us to move there to speak the amazing love of Jesus.
By donating funds you are helping us achieve this vision. What will your money go towards? Moving expenses, setting up the church (supplies, getting the word out, etc), and helping us get our feet on the ground in Juneau. While we intend to be bi-vocational, having some support at the beginning really would help us get settled and start meeting as a home church to start off.
