More Info

OUR GOAL IS SIMPLE

We will teach anyone experiencing a disability how to run a team of sled dogs at no cost.

ANY DISABILITY?

We have designed custom built sleds that can accommodate the specific needs of our participants. Our staff and volunteers are experienced dog mushers trained to work with people experiencing disabilities. (See our video above.)

OUR CURRENT DONOR PERKS*

$75 - Get a Noble Paws Poster

$100 - Get a Noble Paws Baseball Hat

*See above slides for pics of donor perks.

MATCH CHALLENGES

Match Challenges are personal pledges to match a donation of a specific amount. If you want to accept a match challenge, just donate the match amount and let us know whose challenge you are accepting in the comments area of the donation page.

By accepting a challenge you are basically DOUBLING the value your donation. Pretty cool, eh? Current Challenges:

  • Steve Vick: $100 match challenge
  • David Strand: $110 match challenge

(If you want to offer a match challenge just contact Steve at: [email protected])

WHAT WE TEACH

  • If someone wants to experience a dog sled ride for just one hour, we will do that.
  • If someone wants to learn how to run a dog team on their own, we will teach them.
  • If someone wants to enter a dog sled race, we will teach them and let them use our dogs.
  • If someone wants to go for an overnight trip in the backcountry, we will take them.
  • If we have the resources (hence this fundraiser), we will do it. Period.

WHAT WE NEED MONEY FOR

  • Custom Sled Design and Construction: we have designed two types of sleds that need to be custom made. (See above video for details).
  • Liability and Property Insurance: this is a must.
  • Dog Care: training a dog team requires many needs including, training gear, special diet, veterinarian visits, etc.

OUR MISSION/PURPOSE STATEMENT

Noble Paws provides dog sled training and services for persons with special needs, disabilities and at-risk behaviors. This service includes the use of a trained dog sled team and handicap accessible dog sleds. The sleds are modified and/or custom made to accommodate the specific needs of the participants. The staff at Noble Paws are experienced dog mushers trained to work with people experiencing disabilities. The sled dogs are regarded as “service” dogs. They provide physical assistance, fellowship and an emotional connection for the participants.

The ultimate goal of Noble Paws is to enable participants to discover new avenues of mobility and independence. In the end, Noble Paws looks towards expanding a participant’s ability to interact with the outside world while helping to increase their confidence and self-reliance.

ARE WE A NONPROFIT?

We are a registered nonprofit in the state of Alaska. We submitted our 501.c.3 paperwork to the IRS in November. We expect the process to take up to three months. Until then, are status if pending. We do not forsee any difficulty in obtaining 501.c.3 status.
