NBS Animal Rescue

From Steve Scanio

I’m helping to raise money for NBS Animal Rescue in order to cover some of the extensive medical cases they take on. Adoption fees don’t come close to covering all these expenses, so every donation helps!

I'm taking the Polar Plunge to raise money for some of the extensive medical needs of the dogs taken in by NBS Animal Rescue. I will be raising funds online until December 11th. On December 13th, I will take the plunge in the icy Bark-A-Bout pool and turn in all funds raised online. The funds raised go to help dogs like the ones currently in the rescue:

* Tina - A Shih Tzu had to be shaved down due to severe matting. She is also missing a hind paw, which she is being fitted for a prosthetic. The cost of this, with therapy is over $2000.

* Charles - A senior Yorkie has cataracts and is mostly blind. He has a grade 4 heart murmur, a nasty UTI, and would really benefit if he could have surgery to remove his cataracts and restore his vision. His cardiology appointment cleared him for surgery and is awaiting an ophthalmology evaluation. His cost for care will likely be over $3000

* Cookie- An adult Shih Tzu (my current foster dog - see photo below) had fur loss from an uncontrolled flea allergy, a few mammary nodules, ear and eye infection, and a fractured jaw. She is healing up nicely and gets her jaw wire out at the end of this month.

* Lilly - A 14yr old Shih Tzu that was an owner surrender due to health conditions that didn't allow her owner to provide the care she needed. She is 23lbs and severely overweight. Multiple blood panels reveal that she has a thyroid issue. It is hopeful that with meds and some exercise, she will be on her way to much improved health and ready for adoption soon.

NBS Animal Rescue has found its niche taking in and placing senior/medical needs dogs. It is only through your support that NBS Animal Rescue is able to continue providing the extra care they require.

Please help out by making a donation.
