As a child little did I know that three generations of strong women were teaching me what would become my passion in life. My great grandmother, grandmother, mother, and I would often gather in the kitchen, and cook. Some of the most cherished memories were made, we laughed, joked, cried, stories were told, and often we prayed. My great grandmother, and grandmother lived in the depression area. That had made them be very frugal, which became part of their lifestyle forever. I was always taught if you have a dollar, save fifty cents, and if you want something you got to work for it. They could take almost nothing, and turn it into a tasty meal. When it came to food, there was no waste, it could be used for something different later. All veggies were placed into a five gallon bucket in the freezer. It would be used for winter stew, and soup. There were times my great grandmother would watch me while my mom worked. She would sometimes feed me bacon grease sandwiches. Those were the best sandwiches ever back then. The cooking skills they taught me, I have carried on, and used over the years. As I got older I knew I wanted to pursue my passion for cooking. I worked for others cooking. Although I had a dream that one day I wanted my own restaurant. I set myself a goal to save twenty five thousand dollars. I save the money, then when I hit that goal, my dream, and passion became reality. I now had my own restaurant. I knew I wanted my restaurant to have affordable menu prices, so that everyone could have the opportunity to bring their families, and enjoy a homecooked meal. I have 18 employees, and we are opened 7 days a week. I have been open for a year now. Over the year my twenty five thousand has been spent on inventory, equipment, repairs, bills, and payroll. I just need a little more capital in order to make a few more accomplishments. I would use the capital for marketing, a sign out front, and catch up on some bills. I would also love to purchase an ice cream machine so I could give all the kids free ice cream cones. The struggle has been a little stressing at times, but I am to strong willed to not make it happen. I know my great grandmother, and mother are so happy looking down on me. My grandmother is 96 years old, and it makes my heart happy to see her walk in the door of my restaurant. I would greatly appreciate any donations, and would be willing to pay it back later on. Thank you so much for your time!
