On March 23rd, 2021, Monot and his team were hosting a surf lesson at Keramas. We arrived around 5:45 am and parked near the small warung, north of Komune. We entered the water around 6:00 am while Rahcat (water surf photographer) and Robert (land photographer) were setting up their equipment. The photography team grabbed a few items from the back of the van and proceeded to set up their equipment 10 meters away from the van. The team returned back to the van to grab the rest of the equipment but came to find many of their bags and equipment stolen. The theft happened within a span of 3 minutes.
We ended the lesson immediately and proceeded to look for the thief. We later then filed a report with the local police.
Scene of the crime. 2 bags missing.
Rahcat, Monot, & Robert filing a police report in the Gianyar Regency
Gianyar Police & Detective unit observing the scene of the crime.
We are raising funds so that Monot and his team can continue to work and provide a livelihood for themselves. Their surf lessons is composed of inwater shots / land water shots that are then analyzed with the surf student post surf session.
The fundraising effort will cover the following:
1) Camera Water Housing
2) Laptop for video analysis
3) 2 phones
They have made it very clear that they wish not to take more than what is needed to cover the cost. This is why we are putting a limit on of $2000 USD on the campaign. We understand everyone in Indonesia is suffering. This effort is but one way of addressing the current working situation crisis.
Thank you all for you help.
