{MAC} Moms Against Cybercrime

{MAC} Moms Against Cybercrime

From Debra Petruzelli

I'm raising money to start a non-profit organization with a goal of increasing public awareness by educating parents about cybercrime and provide access to free emotional support services for victims and their families.

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) -  do you know how to protect your family from cybercrime?

Technology abuse is rampant and the tools and resources used by cybercriminals are readily available online for little to no cost.  The ease to which a predator can access the means to commit a crime makes any individual or business a potential target. As a result, the number of cybercrime victims is growing at an alarming rate. The real number is unknown because many victims won't report it out of fear and/or embarrassment and until 2019, law enforcement and government agencies did not have a uniform national cybercrime reporting data base.

I’m a victim of a cybercrime and lived through the nightmare to tell my story and share the knowledge I gained to safeguard myself and my family. Moms Against Cybercrime {MAC} is born from my pain and frustration of not knowing where to go for help or how to protect myself or my devices, a sheer passion to help prevent others from becoming easy targets, and the dire need to provide cybercrime victims a place to receive emotional support.

Your donations will help lay the foundation to launch a grassroots organization to educate the public and start a network of free, local area support groups for victims of cybercrimes such as cyberstalking, cyberbullying and cyber harassment.

If you or someone you know has been a victim of a cybercrime, you are not alone and help is available!
