CASA MISSOULA

CASA of Missoula began in 1994 with the mission of providing independent, trained advocates for the best interests of children in Missoula and Mineral Counties. These children in the judicial system are at substantial risk or have experienced abuse or neglect. CASA provides consistent, long-term advocacy until every child is in a safe, permanent home. CASA volunteers ensure that the rights of abused and neglected children are being protected. A child who has a CASA volunteer is half as likely to languish in the foster care system. Most importantly, CASA gives voice to the child in court. CASA of Missoula has 85 volunteers serving 266 children. However, 2012 is a record year for the number of cases referred in Missoula County – nearly double the need in 2010. CASA staff recruit, train, and supervise volunteers to be advocates who provide individualized attention to each child in need. These volunteers are from a variety of ages and life experiences.  We have college students, retired teachers, stay at home moms, and more.  The common thread is that they want to make a difference and help improve the life of a child.

THE DIRTY DASH

Have you ever said to yourself, “Marathons are too easy, and Triathlons are for sissies?”

We haven’t either…those races are really hard. Think about it…the first person to run a marathon actually died.  HE DIED!...and he probably didn’t even have fun along the way!

Well, welcome to a new kind of race: THE DIRTY DASH.  This race that puts all other races to shame.  The Dirty Dash is a mud run obstacle course where a military boot camp meets your inner five-year-old’s fantasy and subsequently converts boy to man and then man to swine.

You’ll need endurance to trudge up mountains of sludge, courage to overcome uncompromising obstacles, a complete lack of shame to wallow in pits of mud and a smile to show through at the end!

So let this mud run obstacle course become your new guilty pleasure. Go solo or with some of your dirtiest, filthiest, & uncouth friends.  Either way, you’ll be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say, “I am a Dirty Dasher!”… and then proceed to clean yourself off.
