It's been a rocky road, but I'm going to keep riding until the wheels fall off!! I'm not going to stop until I get to my destination: Zinnijah G., M.D.
Mission: Medical School started 1 year ago. I sent in my mind that 2015 would be the year for me to begin my medical school journey. I had to get in somewhere! After applying to 14 schools, I started to receive hope. Take a moment to sit in my chair and see how I view the world.
Since then, I have been conditionally accepted into both Ross and St. George's Universities. Conditionally means that I must complete and pass a "pre-smemster" in order to advance to the medical program. They can only be funded via Private (a no-go for me) Loan or cash. These acceptances also require my family to relocate. My husband and I are vigorously working to save our earnings, but this is still not enough to cover 5 people relocating. We are asking for our community to lift us up, so that I will be able to grace all of us with the knowledge and privilege of becoming an MD.
With your contribution, I will be able to cover tuition, books, health insurance, travel fees, room and board, and business casual clothes (ya'll know I'm a slipper wearing flower child).
Inspiration comes from abstract sources at times, but I consider myself a part of the "talented 10th" that W.E.B. Du Bois Spoke of. He said that each community has a select group of scholars that need to be held up in the communities so that everyone can benefit from their talent.
My vision is to be an OB/GYN. There is a saying that says "when a mother is happy, so is the entire family". Trust me, having 3 children of my own has proven this statement to be true. My mission is to assist with restoring the way women's health is approached. We are life givers, not a medical condition (period). So when we are treated in that manner, the healing will begin.
Thank you for taking the time to see the world from my eyes. Feel free to contact me to find out more about Mission: Medical School and how I conquered all odds (e.g. children, marriage, college, MCAT, etc.). I know that once you put your mind to a task, the body will follow.
Love & Light!
Beautiful friends equals beautiful life! Thank you Melissa and Jovanni for your generous contributions. I'm soaking up all this love and storing it in my motivation purse! A little bit goes a long way. Medical school, here I come!!!
The time is with me! LOL! Really it's going by too fast! I'll be leaving in just a few weeks. My family and I are getting into phase "get rid of everything". I'm releasing 85% of our earthly belongings, which is my way of surrendering to the universe. I trust my intuition!!
Yay! My first contributor, Mia, has given me hope!!! Thank you Mia, for always supporting what I do!! You are an amazing woman!! (Look at Mia and I gazing at the children from afar during the Blk Dance Tour) #doingthehappydance #weloveteachingdancetothechildren
