The Heart Center at St. Louis Children's Hospital

From The Holiday Heart Committee (MOHF)

1 in every 100 babies in the US is born with a congenital heart defect. The need for your support is critical. We are raising money for the patients and families staying in the Heart Center at STL Children’s Hospital.

More Info

This holiday season we are fundraising on behalf of the Mighty Oakes Heart Foundation, with gifts and funds going directly to patients and their families staying at the Heart Center, a specialized pediatric intensive care unit of St. Louis Children’s Hospital.

The families who need your help are ordinary people in extraordinary circumstances. With your caring and generous support, we will be able to support families of children born with congenital heart defects financially, emotionally and in ways unique to their needs.

By supporting these families in financial and emotional ways, it is our biggest hope that we will alleviate significant stress from their lives, allowing these families to stay together during their time of crisis, so they can remain a powerful family unit. We know that by doing this we are giving the gift of time, presence, and LOVE – a gift – that no medical treatment can replace.

The Heart Center provides complex cardiac care to children with congenital heart defects and acquired heart diseases ranging from newborns through early adulthood. They are a combined unit that cares for these children from their most critical and acute moments of care, until the moment they discharge from the hospital. Whether a patient and family is spending one night or one year in the Heart Center during an admission – they’re dedicated to providing them with the best medical care while supporting the family’s goals and encouraging their involvement as a crucial member of their child’s treatment team. Your generous contributions will aid them in achieving those goals.

If you're looking to purchase something directly, check out our Amazon Wish List. This wish list was put together by the Heart Center's PICU nurses and covers gifts and essentials for patients and their families.

Any items on this list can be purchased directly through Amazon OR you can use it as a guide to purchasing items on your own. Please note, due to the severity of each child's condition and compromised immune system, all gifts must be new and in original packaging. Once an item has been gifted they cannot be shared among the floor. Each baby, child and young adult need many of these items out of necessity and the item will be theirs to keep.

All physical gifts can be brought to McBride Homes Design Studio, 17401 N Outer 40 Rd, Chesterfield, MO 63005 during business hours.

**Please share and tell your friends! These children (often times infants) need these essentials on a regular basis.  NO GIFT IS TOO SMALL.

The Holiday Heart Committee

MOHF Holiday Heart Committee is made up of three dedicated ladies with a passion for helping others — Christine Schultz, Lisa Eilermann + Laurie Wittenbrink. They bring a wealth of knowledge in event planning, marketing and fundraising. After learning about MOHF and touring the Heart Center they couldn't wait to jump aboard. They immediately aligned with the MOHF vision to be a source of strength, assurance and hope to families of children with congenital heart defects.
