Hello! My name is Mikey Schmid and I have been with the USA Deaf National Soccer Team since 2013. We are preparing for the Deaflympics in Brazil in May 2022 to follow up our Pan American Championship in Chile back in Nov 2019! For all who knows me, soccer has been a lifelong passion of mine and I have always dreamed of playing at the highest levels. From playing in the small town of Oberlin, OH, then playing collegiate soccer at Case Western Reserve University 2007-2010 and Professional Indoor Soccer with Cleveland Freeze in 2013-2014, and continuing to be a menace in the amateur North Coast Soccer League and Spanish Premier League, representing United States of America is an amazing honor. After winning the Pan American Championship and the Golden Boot with the USA squad, I would love to help build on that success by winning a major medal for the first time in the Men's team history in the Deaflympics! In order to attend this major tournament that only happens every 4 years, we each have to fundraise $4000 to be able travel with the team, pay for hotels/meals/transportation/staff, and play 6 games in 12 days against the best teams in the world! I know it is a lot ask for, so I plan on sharing all of my workout, soccer games, and coaching across my social media feeds to journal my preparation for the Deaflympics to help build the momentum for all of my teammates. I hope you will share and join me in my journey as every one of you have a major impact in what I do!
The Deaflympics take place every 4 years, and I have the opportunity to complete as one of forty-four elite d/Deaf or Hard of Hearing (HoH) athletes in our country. I will be representing the United States as part of the delegation attending this event, and I need your support to attend in this once in a life time event. Soccer is just one of 21 different sporting events offered at the 2022 Deaflympics. The event will start with an Opening Ceremonies, followed by 14 days of intense competition, and a Closing Ceremonies. Check out the information the the 2022 Deaflympics website: Click Here

Note: The money from this fundraiser will go towards USADSA (100%) and its support of the USDWNT & USDMNT as they compete in the 2022 Deaflympics May 1st-15th in Caxias do Sul, Brazil.
