More Info

Sadly, this High Holiday Season, thousands of families in Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico are entering the Jewish New Year with the heavy burden of rebuilding their lives, homes and communities after the devastation of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma.

When news broke, students at NYHS started a donations table.  As headlines shifted to other stories, NYHS students decided to think “outside the box” by finding tangible ways to make a difference.  The NYHS Dor l’Door initiative empowers our students to put their 21st century learning into action. In our Maker Space, NYHS students are using a 3D printer to design 120 mezuzah cases that will house kosher scrolls. These mezuzot will be sent directly to impacted Jewish homes, classrooms, synagogues, and community centers throughout Houston and Florida. When technology like a 3D printer is aligned with a clear mission, vision and educational philosophy, authentic learning opportunities become transformative experiences.

Your tax-deductible donation allows NYHS to develop such high quality, authentic learning experiences and provides an opportunity for NYHS students to design, fabricate and personally send kosher mezuzot to families in Houston, Florida and Puerto Rico who are so appreciative of this NYHS initiative. Please partner with us in this remarkable learning and giving opportunity.

Update #2

Exciting news! Thanks to your generous contributions, NYHS has already sent its first batch of mezuzot to Houston! After the chaggim, NYHS students will be designing and fabricating mezuzut 5 days a week!
We need a little over $7,000 to reach our Dor L'Door goal in the next few days. With your help, we can do it!

Please join me and the many alumni, parents, grandparents and friends who have already made a gift to NYHS.

Your partnership will support intellectually and spiritually inspiring and innovative education that is at the core of NYHS.

Chag Sameach,
