Period Poverty……You might be able to assume the meaning of this but the majority of people have never heard this term before. Period poverty is when menstruators don’t have access to period products.
With the devastating floods that hit Pakistan, many individuals have no home to return too. Over 33 million people have been displaced due to the floods. Many of the individuals affected by the floods are women. Many of these women & girls will be menstruating at some point with limited resources to help them during this difficult time. Many my use things like leaves, old rags and from time to time, they use menstrual pads or other sanitary products which they end up using for too long because it costs a lot of money to get and they don’t want it to go to waste. This does stop the bleeding however, the risks of infections & various other problems will arise. This is a problem that cannot be solved very easily because the methods are usually passed down generation to generation. This makes menstruation a taboo.
During a crisis such as flooding, menstrual health is barely thought about . Ek Saath purpose is to provide sustainable menstrual products and education worldwide. We looking to create an impact by connecting women to support each other while bringing awareness to all humans. I want to provide a safe place for menstruators to learn about their body’s and a platform to create a marketplace with all the kinds of period products that exist.
Help us create this platform and watch how we change the lives of so many people. In order to ensure that menstruators have access to the right supplies during this crisis, we are collaborating with numerous government agencies, civil society organizations, and social activists who are notifying us of items that are needed for these women.
The Kits: Each donation goes directly to purchasing pads, wipes, underwear, & soap which will be assembled into kits. Each kit is enough to last an individual for 1 month. Each kit cost roughly $5 to make.
