About Me

Hello! I'm Melody (aka Mary Lane Cryns).I'm an active member of Story Summit Writer's School. Last year I received a scholarship to attend the "Her Spirit" writers' retreat in Santa Fe, Mexico. That event changed my life because I no longer feel alone as a writer. Though I've been fortunate to attend some wonderful retreats and workshops in the past, this year I want to help others follow their dreams of becoming a working writer. My goal is to finish the final draft of my memoir, "How Do I Explain This To My Kids?" by the end of the year. I know first-hand the struggle is real to attend workshops online or in person. I plan to play songs about walking on my ukulele while others walk because of my foot/ankle injury. Join us and make dreams come true.

More Info

Story Moves Us benefits The Rainbow Fund by building scholarship resources supporting Diversity and Writers with Disabilities..

Since its inception in 2020, the Storyteller Foundation has provided scholarships to over one hundred emerging writers. The foundation supports voices that encourage, uplift, and educate, creating a more unified and sustainable world.

In the past two years, the foundation has provided specific help for writers who are working mothers, and writers who are cancer survivors.

Our 2022-2023 scholarship program provides mentorships to emerging writers in the BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and disabled sectors. Mentorship occurs online, in person, and through onsite retreats.
