Update #9

We're almost to the goal and it will definitely go toward restoring our phone service. I've managed to keep our household expenses covered because I couldn't imagine mom being sick and having to live in a place without power or water.

Being without our phones is scary. I'm spending all day wondering what if I've missed some emergency. If you've got anything to spare, my goal now is to get the phone bill caught up so... at least if it's every going off, again, it'll be a couple of months before it does.

Outside of working (housekeeping outside of my full time job) to the point of exhaustion, constantly, I have no way of generating extra money and April was definitely a month where I worked too long and too hard for not much difference in earnings, overall.

My mom has a fixed income. Without me, she wouldn't be getting treatment at all and I want to keep her in it for as long as possible. Hopefully until her cancer goes into remission. Your help is how we've gotten this far and I'm so grateful for all of you getting us so much closer to the funding goal.

More Info

I moved back to Mississippi in May 2017 to care for my mom. She'd been referred to an oncologist by her GP to possibly diagnose and treat cancer in her breasts and lungs. I say "possibly" because the out-of-pocket expenses of her health insurance are too out of hand for us to afford them.

EDIT: (Original: She hasn't seen the specialist and currently has no plans to. We simply can't afford to. Even with help, it's not an option.) She's now seen a lung specialist to diagnose her with small cell lung cancer. Because of the type & location of the mass, it cannot be cut out. Her only option is chemo, now.

She's doing daily radiation treatment and has started chemo, as well. The costs are piling up, but we're determined to take care of her health no matter what.

My personal medical debt is completely out of hand. I've had multiple strokes and a heart surgery. Despite getting most of my bills reduced by private programs and negotiating with hospitals, I'm still hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical debt.

What I'm asking you for, right now, is not even help with that. I was in a wreck recently that requires a $208 (plus taxes & fees) replacement of my back windshield. My mom has recently caught the flu and needs to see a doctor because her immune system is already compromised.

I can't offer you anything in return for your love and care. I work anywhere from 16 to 20 hours every day of the week and simply can't spare a moment to create art for donors like I used to.

Please, help us if you can. Every little be counts and we'll be eternally grateful.

Hopefully, someday we can get forgiveness for both our medical debts... or move to a place with healthcare. For now, we just need a helping hand taking care of these unfortunate surprises.

Update #8

I'm so behind on posting updates because I'm rarely home, these days. This week should be a little more relaxed so I'll have time to get our house in order and take pics of the car repair receipt. Thank you for donating, so far. Radiation is a 5-day a week expense and chemo happens three days every three weeks (if I've got my timeline correct. Our days are falling into an expensive routine and I feel like my feet haven't touched the ground in a couple of months.

Our stove broke in February and we just took care of it, last week. I'm so relieved to be able to cook at home, again. THANK YOU AND I LOVE YOU to everyone that has donated, kept us company on hard days, and let me use your kitchen while the stove was out.

Thank you to everyone that sends or drops off food for her while I'm at work.

Seriously, my gratitude is through the roof. Being an only child has made this experience tough, but I'm so glad my friends are here with us. <3

Update #6

This is a near-daily expense that is eating up a lot of our resources. Energy most of all. I hope she and I can beat this. Especially since all of you are helping us so much.

Lately, my own health is suffering and I've spent so much on living expenses and hospital expenses that I haven't even gotten the car fixed, yet. It would be amazing if I could just get that knocked out, this week or next. Keep your fingers crossed, for us!

Update #3

I still haven't gotten a chance to throw more money at the car after getting the minor (but expensive) body repair. I feel like I'll never get the window fixed!!!

In any case, Tuesday, I'm taking mom to the hospital for a biopsy and first chemotherapy treatment. This is happening because of your help! Prior to setting up this campaign and finding my latest job, she's been against spending money to battle cancer.

Thank you so much for showing my family that you love us and support us. We'll keep you posted.

Update #2

Had to deal with mom's flu developing into pneumonia & sinus infection (which I guess I should have expected since that happens every time she catches a cold.)

Got a higher estimate on my window, recently, because the glass shop claims I need to go somewhere that can fix the hatch/trunk first. I don't see where the back hatch is bent, but they measured it for me and explained that they can't install the window because of where the hatch is damaged.

I'll visit a repair shop tomorrow and get an estimate for the additional repair.

This has really just turned into a pile of problems I'm still not fully prepared to deal with. :(

Update #1

I've made an appointment for mom and we're hoping the prescriptions are low enough to allow us to afford a follow-up for her when symptoms calm down.
