We are the Massalit Community in CT. We are trying to help our people who are fleeing genocidal violence in our homeland in Darfur. They are pouring over the border into Chad. They need food, water, medicine, and other life-saving resources. We are collecting donations to provide mosquito nets, shelter, and other vital necessities. We hope you will support our efforts.
In June, a massacre happened in our capital El Geneina in West Darfur. Brutal militias are strangling El Geneina, terrorizing civilians and cutting them off from food, water, & medical supplies. Thousands who’ve escaped and made it to Chad are now in urgent need of protection and care. We are doing everything we can to help: We are sending donations to Chad and urging the international community to bring peace to Darfur. In July, Massalit-Americans came from all over the U.S. to Washington, DC, to raise awareness.
Our tribe (the Massalit) is being targeted in an ethnic cleansing campaign to eliminate the indigenous people. We are survivors of the first genocide in Darfur, and we are working to save our people and bring peace to our homeland.
