Make 'Their Sweet Shop' a Reality!

The Folks Behind Their Sweet Shop: 

Katie & Tamara became co-workers at Knead Doughnuts in the summer of 2020, in the middle of a pandemic, and through masked faces they quickly learned they had a lot in common: a love for true crime podcasts, doggos, musicals, 2000's pop punk, and most importantly, they both really loved baking for their friends and family.  Along with the passion they have for producing high quality, locally sourced, and *delicious* desserts, the two of them have over 23 years of experience in food service together! 

Katie was born and raised in Michigan and has been working in restaurants since she was 14.  She has a 2 year old son, Emmett, who can oftentimes be found on a stool beside her in the kitchen mixing and scooping cookies. She also likes to experiment with vegan recipes for her vegan step-son, Keiran, to eat! Her favorite cookie is a soft oatmeal chocolate chip cookie. 

Tamara was born in Santiago, Chile and moved to Colorado when she was a kid. She had her own successful small business in Colorado, called Valenz Chilean Cuisine, which brought small town, homemade flavor from Chile to the table. Tamara is a parent to 2 dogs, a cat, and an always growing (pun intended) number of plants. Her favorite cookie is a snickerdoodle. 

The Dream of Their Sweet Shop:

Katie and Tamara created the idea of Their Sweet Shop together in the spring of 2021.  They dream of providing Rhode Island with a queer and minority owned small batch bakery.  They dream of producing hand crafted, locally sourced, approachable, and consistently delicious cookies, cupcakes, cakes, brownies, bars, cookie dough, extracts, and more. They dream of pop-up events with other locally owned small businesses, farmer's markets, custom orders, and catering. They dream of the smile on your face when you take your first bite.
