Maine Challenge lifts up the voices of folks committed to making Maine "the way life should be." If you make a donation by August 31, your contribution will be matched by a generous donor who shares your vision.
Maine Challenge produces programs exploring economic, social, and environmental issues that affect Mainers' lives. We bring in experts, advocates, and citizens to talk with program host Betsy Sweet about the policies and ideas they care about.
Launched during the pandemic in 2020, Maine Challenge originated as a way to create dialogue about life and policy choices in Maine. In late 2020, Betsy joined as the regular host, bringing her vast knowledge of Maine, huge network of friends and acquaintances, and her warm and friendly interviewing style.
In the course of a Maine Challenge program, you'll learn why the guests are so passionate about an idea or issue, as well as why perhaps you should be, too. You'll get the facts you need to advocate for yourself and your family, and you often will learn something surprising about our beautiful state.
In late June, Bill C., one of the Mainers who donated our initial seed money, stepped forward again, saying that he supports our mission and will match any donation made in July and August up to a grand total of $30,000.
We currently have a paid staff of three part-time people. An influx of funds will help us get off Zoom, shoot footage in the studio and out on the road, talk to more people, create more exciting programs, and increase our ability to get your vision of "the way life should be" in front of more Maine people.
You can watch our programs on many public access cable stations in Maine, as well as listen to an audio version on WERU-fm on Tuesdays at 5 PM. Our programs are available anytime on our YouTube channel, Maine Challenge. We often also premiere new programs on our Maine Challenge Facebook page.
As we head toward 2022, another election year with great consequences for Maine and the country, we urge you to join Bill C. with a contribution to Maine Challenge.
