A mitzvah project is a good deed that has to be completed on the journey to becoming a bat mitzvah. Madison Slosberg has chosen to help CASA Essex take two foster children off the list!
"No child should go through the foster care system without someone by their side to advocate for their best interest."
My name is Madison Slosberg and I will celebrate becoming a bat mitzvah on May 3, 2019. For my mitvah project, I have chosen CASA for Children of Essex County and their “Take a Child off the List” mission. “CASA” or Court Appointed Special Advocates, is a non-profit organization that trains and supervises volunteers from our community to speak up for the best interest of children who have been removed from their home because of abuse or neglect.
There are approximately 1,700 children in foster care in Essex County alone. It roughly costs $1,500 to acquire and onboard one CASA volunteer advocate and for every CASA that is on-boarded, a child will be taken off the list and assigned an advocate.
I hope you will help me in my fundraising goal of $3,000 to take two foster children off the list. No child should go through the foster care system without someone by their side to advocate for their best interest.
Thank you so much for your help!
