A medical missions trip to Antananarivo, Madagascar from July, 31 - August 10, 2015! Offering free medical care and support to local health care professionals.
Dear Family and Friends,
This summer I have the opportunity to attend a medical missions trip to Antananarivo, Madagascar from July, 31 - August 10, 2015. We will be providing free medical care at a clinic for the first few days of the trip and the remaining days will be dedicated to the instruction of medical practices to local health care professionals.
Many people in Madagascar live in poverty, “with 68 percent of the population subsisting on less than US $1.25 per day…”. Furthermore, the maternal mortality rate remains remarkably high in Madagascar due to an increased rate of postpartum hemorrhage (life threatening blood loss following the birth of a child). Postpartum hemorrhage can often be avoided by receiving early prenatal care and through the encouragement of eating nutrient rich foods. As a labor and delivery nurse, I strongly believe that this trip will enable me to help women who are seeking medical care. Also, I hope to encourage local health care professionals to utilize the proper tools to prevent an increase in maternal mortality rate.
I am inviting you to join me on this journey! As you can see the needs are great in Madagascar. I would like to ask you to please consider supporting me on this medical mission trip to Antananarivo, Madagascar.
