About The Team

The LSNA's Housing Team aims to stabilize housing in Logan Square, Avondale, and Hermosa that represent ethnic and economic diversity. We strive to create a place where everyone feels welcome and has a voice in shaping the future of their neighborhood.

We recognize that with stable housing, families can keep their children in local schools, buy from local businesses, and have access to leadership development opportunities with LSNA.

Update #2

Meet Juan Sebastian and Dasha Arias, the power-siblings who are running for LSNA's housing team! They believe in the work LSNA is doing to build power in the community and fight for housing as a human right. Here's why they are running: "Our family has a decades-long history in Logan Square and Avondale - from the Logan Boulevard apartments our abuelita and mom lived in to the 2-flat on Avers our family moved into in 1989. As we all know, the neighborhood has changed a lot since then – many of our neighbors from those days are no longer around. The rising costs and displacement of Latinx families from the neighborhood have disrupted the lives of too many. LSNA’s work to let long-time residents stay in the community is critical now more than ever. We’re running to support LSNA’s Housing Team in this fight to preserve the economic, racial and ethnic diversity of the community so that new investments can benefit all without displacing any. Please join us by donating whatever you can!"

Juan Sebastian is the Manager of Housing and Community Development with the Metropolitan Planning Council. He works to advance research, policy, and technical assistance initiatives for a more equitable region. Dasha is a Principal Account Manager in the Sales - Global Business Organization at Google. She also founded an organization called Rêver, that leverages dance as an instrument to introduce underserved youth in Chicago to the conventionalism of STEM. Together, they're both running for LSNA's Housing Team!

Update #1

We're excited to have Diego Morales join the Housing Team!

Diego says, "I am 14 years old and will be a Freshman in High School this fall. I support LSNA because they care about the families that live in my neighborhood, and teach them to be leaders in schools and on issues important to the community."
