The Graduate Students in English Association is run by and for graduate students in the English Department at the University of California, Riverside. GSEA organizes the annual (dis)junctions graduate conference and Multimedia Festival, produces the annual directory of faculty and graduate students, and funds mini-grants to partially defray conference travel expenses. In addition, GSEA sponsors a mentoring program for incoming graduate students, helps with orientation, and organizes graduate students' roles in recruiting applicants and admits to the program.
GSEA also organizes three department parties each year and holds a series of fund-raising events among other activities, including bowling and karaoke nights. Since 2001, GSEA has sponsored the Marathon Read on campus.
The Graduate Students in English Association (GSEA) at UCR is raising money for conference grants and the annual (dis)junctions graduate conference.
Due to the UC budget cuts, graduate students have recently been forced to pay for their own (often out of state and even international) conference-related expenses. The GSEA tries to help graduate students by providing mini-grants to those who qualify in order to shoulder some of their expenses. The GSEA would appreciate your help. Any amount goes a long way.
Thanks to the fundraising of the previous two years, GSEA has been able to begin a new program that provides monetary awards for students who publish book reviews in a peer-reviewed publication.
