The Leul Girmay Memorial Fund Inc, a registered United States based charitable organization (501(c)(3)) recently completed libraries and computer resource centers in the SOS Children's Villages in Ghana, Ethiopia and the Gambia to the satisfaction of the Leul Fund as well as our donors. As a result, we decided to embark on a similar project for the SOS Children's Village in Mombasa, Kenya.

SOS Mombasa strives to cushion young people from unemployment by exposing them to various empowerment programs besides formal education. To date, more than 200 young people have successfully transited to independent living since the inception of the Mombasa Village in 1980. Currently, the location is supporting over 200 young people through both the Alternative Care and Family Strengthening programs.  Lack of soft skills and modern IT skills has been pointed out severally by the young people as a stumbling block towards finding sustainable employment or source of livelihood. SOS Mombasa among other programs plans to bridge this gap by installing a fully equipped Digital hub in the village. The Hub will facilitate acquisition of requisite computer literacy skills by all children and youth from SOS Mombasa both from the CV and FS community. Additionally, the Hub will facilitate improvement of literacy skills by providing learners with access to learning material as well as a means of accessing online classes in the advent of the Covid19 pandemic. This project will entail furnishing and equipping this room with learning materials, computers, a printer, tables and chairs.
