As OKR Dance commemorates its remarkable 10-year anniversary, the journey has been one marked with resilience and determination. In an era where funding for the arts faces significant challenges, particularly with the Arts Council of England's allocation dwindling from 60-70% to a mere 15% for projects, supporting OKR Dance becomes paramount. Public support, both in enthusiasm and attendance, along with financial backing, are integral to sustaining the vibrancy of this artistic endeavor.

We have this incredible idea for a new show Waking Dreams, a one-hour performance that takes the audience on a thrilling adventure. By embracing neurodiversity as a source of inspiration, Waking Dreams breaks down barriers and challenges stereotypes associated with neurodiversity. It's a journey that delves into the unknown, tapping into the creative reserves that lie within each of us.

The piece will be performed by 6 professional tap dancers to original music created by Kenneth Mockler. As done previously with both OSCiLLATE and Fall Out, the ambition is to tour the new work in small to mid-scale theatres across the UK such as Dance East, Dance City, and Pavilion South West.

The aim of Waking Dreams is threefold: to put exceptional tap dance on stage in the UK, to educate society at large about the richness of neurodiversity, and to provide an avenue for expression through the art of tap dance.

By rallying behind OKR Dance, we not only help keep the company afloat but also ensure that its talented dancers can continue pursuing their passion and showcasing their excellence on stage, enriching both their lives and the cultural tapestry of our communities.

We are seeking support for a creation period to develop the show.

Thank you for taking the time to engage with our project!
