I'm raising money for a cause I care about, but I need your help to reach my goal! Please become a supporter to follow my progress and share with your friends.
For most of us, books are readily accessible and we don't think twice about it. But for children in Senanga and Katimba, Zambia. Their access to a good education is not only limited by how long they have to walk to get to the nearest school, but also the lack of proper reading material for each grade level. After spending summers in these areas and talking to the children. It came to my attention that these kids, like kids anywhere love to read, they are eager to get an education and become contributing members of their societies, but the lack of reading material which builds imagination, knowledge and access to possibilities hinders their success. This lack often frustrates them leading them to give up. The goal of this effort is to raise enough money to collect build and stock a small library for the children starting with Katimba.Access to a lending library will not only build up literacy levels but also self esteem that they can be successful and compete in this fast changing world. Most importantly it will provide a place for the kids to escape giving them access to ideas and other perspectives.A lending library that will not only give them access to books the so wish they could have but also stand as a symbol of the importance of paying it forward, so that one day when they are able to do so, they may do the same and continue building their communities.
