Good morning everyone, I am making this page for Dan and our family to help us cover some of the costs and medical expenses incurred by this work place injury. Daniel is a carpenter and this is his livelyhood. He is the sole provider for our family and a fierce worker... he pushes himself harder than I've ever seen anyone push themselves. he doesn't complain and he get everything done with a smile on his face alway being an entertainer and a friend. Dan has a zest and rhythm for life and a nothing can stop Superman attitude. He is a wonderful father to our one and a half year old son he really gets in there and wrestles around with him and holds him and takes care of him in the mornings. He's a great guy who got caught up in the wrong saw at the wrong time... pun intended. He is especially positive about this situation and trying to figure out ways that this can inprove his life or ways he can challenge himself and now he is at work although he shouldn't be because he is trying to make a living for us... but who is going to tell a man that they can't do something just that they are injured certainly not his significant other haha. I'm hoping that we can generate some income since he does not have insurance or workers comp and is working as a independent contractor. We are working on the paperwork to get him set up for some sort of insurance hopefully that will come through. I am hoping I can generate some money to give him some time to relax and heal should he need additional surgeries which he probably will and also money to help with the surgeries in case the insurance doesn't help I'm sure it's going to be an expensive one and we are just getting our lifes really rolling and getting ahead so this is just a fork in the road hopefully people will see it in their hearts to help out a little since it takes two hands to be a carpenter and he is trying his best with one and in pain. His right thumb is severed though the bone and joints from the knuckle up and was only held together by a small piece of skin when he arrived at the hospital. The thumb was losely sewn together at the emergency room. He is scheduled to return to have the hand checked out again on friday by the e.r. staff. Then he will see an orthopedic surgeon on monday for further instruction to see if he needs futher surgery or the extent of how they can rebuild his thumb and function. The emergency room doctor thinks he will not regain full mobility since he cut through the joint and bone however we are skeptical that anything is possible. He is at high risk for infection since the injury took place on a construction job using a table saw that is covered in material. the risk for infection is all the more reason I don't want him at work. The antibiotics he must take for the next three days cost $300 alone. that doesn't include our bills that may rack up for the ER in the surgeon and the pain medicine and whatever else he may need including time off work. I am hoping for the best medical attention possible and the time for him to recover because in addition to being a carpenter his hobby is fitness and mixed martial arts and he needs that some to fulfill his passions and his goals. Thank you for taking the time to read think and consider him and our family. please excuse any misspellings or poor punctuation I am also in the middle of watching my young son while setting this up.
