This year, 2.5 million children & their parents will experience homelessness. Make a difference this holiday season and help a single mother and her young daughter keep their home and get back on their feet.
Caitlin is 12 years old and lives with her mom in the city. Her mom works for minimum wage at three part time jobs.
During hard times, Mom's hours can be reduced, which can add up to hard choices when it comes to paying bills. Recently, she received a notice of eviction because she had gotten behind on the rent. There is very long waitlist for low income housing in the city where she lives so they would have been in a shelter for a very long time.
With the generous support of family and friends we have managed to keep this single mother and her 12 year old daughter in their home for this Christmas. However, even with that support and with working three part-time jobs up to 13 hours a day, this hard-working mom is still struggling to make ends meet. A few months ago, their gas was turned off because they couldn't afford to make the payments and have enough food to eat. Now, winter is coming and they need help getting their heat back on.
Even the smallest donation would make a HUGE difference in their lives. We don’t need to raise much to help this family in a really significant way. Covering their small expenses for the next couple of months would give them the help they need to get back on track.
Can’t donate? Please share. Even a quick share on Facebook can help.
The average share raises $97.
