Kids WANT to learn and come to school, but in East Sumba, many can't because their access to education is limited.
The island of Sumba is one of Indonesia's most remote islands. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, schools have closed and kids have limited to no access to education. This is compounded by the general lack of technology available in most families, disabling teachers' ability to teach online. Schools have already been closed for more than a year, and the lack of education being provided to kids is increasingly crippling the next generation. They are excited and motivated, but the resources aren't available.
Laptops are essential for bringing education to many kids who have been left behind due to this pandemic. Providing these laptops not only brings education back to these kids, but also provides much needed experience and education with technology which they desperately need to get jobs in the future.
This fundraising effort aims to purchase 20 laptops for our school, Charis Sumba, located in Waingapu, East Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara.
