I am training for the 2015 LA Marathon & wanted to run for a good cause by supporting aiSP's Clean Cookstove Initiative to improve the health of Tintale Villagers in Nepal by replacing their harmful open fire stoves.

We did it! I crossed the finished line at the #LAMarathon and we blew past the fundraising goal of $2,600 and reached a total of $3,408. I am going to cover the fees that Fundly takes and make it an even $3,500 for aiSP's Clean Cookstove Cooking Initiative. That's enough to install the clean cookstoves into 14 homes and fund Tintale Academy for 4 months and 6 days. Thank you for your support and generous donations! I couldn't have done this without you. I can't wait to give Bill at aiSP the check and post photo updates of the families and students we will be helping. Namasté.

I've known Bill (William Aura) from the Aura Imports Sponsorship Program (aiSP) for many years. He has been dedicated to helping impoverished students in Asia; specifically in the remote village of Tintale in Nepal for the past seven years. aiSP has built a school for the children there; exposing them to music, art and technology and continues to fund its operations. I recently made a donation to support their tablet program for the academy.
This is my second year participating in the LA Marathon. I see many runners supporting a good cause and I wanted to contribute in some way. Many runners are fundraising for large charity organizations and I wanted to support a cause where I knew the funds that are donated would go directly to service the people in need. I immediately thought of Bill & aiSP and got in touch with him about the possibility of fundraising for Tintale Academy. He told me about aiSP's Clean Cookstove Initiative. Many villagers cook over an open fire with poor ventilation and damp woods in their homes causing a hazardous environment due to prolonged smoke inhalation.
"Women and young children spend the most time near open fires tending to the family meal. One of the world’s biggest killers is chronic exposure to smoke from traditional cooking practices. Penetrating deep into the lungs of its victims, indoor smoke causes a range of deadly health effects such as low birth-weight in children, child pneumonia, lung cancer and heart disease."
aiSP seeks to help these families by replacing those open fires with clean cookstoves with proper ventilation. For more information on aiSP's Clean Cookstove Initiative, please visit aiSP's Facebook or download this PDF.
My goal is raise $100 for every mile of the marathon for a total of $2,600. $2,600 will allow aiSP to purchase and install the clean cookstoves into 10 homes and fund the operations of Tintale Academy for 3 months. Any extra proceeds over my goal will go towards purchasing & installing more clean cookstoves into additional homes and fund the operations of Tintale Academy. I will provide updates & photos during the course of my training and from the fruit of your generosity afterwards. Thank you for your time and any assistance you can offer. Namasté.

We did it! We've surpassed the fundraising goal of $2,600 and currently at $2,703 with 5 days left to go. Thank you everyone for your support, words of encouragement and generous donations. For every additional $250 that is raised, we're able to install a clean cookstove in an additional home and fund Tintale Academy for 9 days. Let's see how amy more families we can help.
