There is nothing like that feeling of reaching a goal. And for 23 students at King Drew Magnet High School in South LA, that goal will be reached as they cross the finish line of the LA Marathon in March 2018. They have been training for 3 months with just 5 more months to go. These dedicated students meet 3 days a week after school as well as on Saturdays for longer runs. Members of the KD Running Club maintain a 2.0 GPA, experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved health by providing them with a truly life-changing experience: The training for and completion of the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon. For some, this will be their first marathon, for others their 5th! By the end of the marathon, they have truly become a family.
Funds raised will help offset the cost of transportation expenses, proper running shoes, and race entry fees for 23 South LA students.
