More Info

Since 2008 Bay Area Green Tours (501(c)3) has provided students with interactive trips that take them out of the classroom and into the field – where what they are learning comes to life and they get a taste of possible future careers in agriculture, zero waste, green building, sustainable cities, clean energy, and much more.

On countless occasions we have witnessed the joy that students experience as their spirits are awakened and inspired by real-life role models. When students are able to see green careers in action they think: “I could do this job, this could be me” – you can see the excitement in their eyes as their imaginations race!

“Today I learned all about energy, but my favorite thing I learned was solar energy is a booming business, and a perfect career for me.”

Jackson, Berkeley High School student

Due to nationwide budget cuts, field trip programs have been almost completely eliminated, and in some low-income and at-risk districts they no longer exist. We’re deeply committed to bringing our multi-stop, experiential excursions to all communities – planting seeds of curiosity and interest, engagement and creativity – but because of a lack of funding, our ability to provide them is limited.

Bay Area Green Tours (BAGT) can only offer trips to schools which have secured their own funding, usually through grants which are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. For BAGT to be able to take a greater number of students on our field trips, we need people like you to donate today.

YOU can contribute to help create leaders for a sustainable future! Please make a tax deductible donation to Bay Area Green Tours to help us produce our expansive eco-excursions for more youth.

Our initial goal of $35,000 will help build a framework for success for the 2013-14 school year!

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Make a tax deductible donation today to Bay Area Green Tours, 501(c)3

  • One-time donations help a student or class go on a tour

  • Recurring donations sustain our program into the future (e.g., $20/month covers the cost for 10 participating students for a year)

Help us utilize the power of crowdfunding!

  • Please share this appeal with all your friends and family

  • Encourage your network to start their own fundraising team

Be a leader of your own fundraising team

  • Get your friends and family to join our campaign and encourage them to start their own teams to raise funds for their local schools

  • Reach out to your employer: you can start a fundraising team with your co-workers and then ask your employer to match what your team raised

Why BAGT Field Trips are important for our future:

Our “seminars on wheels” bring what students are learning in the classroom to life.

We connect youth to the emerging green economy.

Participating students see paths for themselves where before they had no such vision. When they learn about opportunities in areas like waste management, solar energy, green industrial design, aquaponics and architecture, these young people are able to dream of careers they had not known existed, and to set goals to pursue them.

As long as there are schools which want to participate and people willing to contribute, we’ll continue to raise funds to keep field trips alive all over the Bay Area!

“This tour was a great experience. It showed me things that I didn’t know before... and it was also really fun!”

 Natalie, Berkeley High School student

Thank you very much for your consideration and generosity!
