In just a few short weeks, Gotmead’s goal is hit!
Y’all. Are. AMAZING!
I am in tears of gratitude for your generosity and support. Words escape me.
Thank you sooo much!
Gotmead has been in continuous operation since 1996, starting with a few pages on mead recipes and mead history, and over the years expanding to contain several hundred pages of meadmaking information, recipes, history, mead industry information and news from all over the mead world.
The Gotmead forum has been busy with more than 20,000 members, and a quarter million messages, all about mead, and more come in every day.
Gotmead provides mead centric venues on social media that are updated frequently with mead information, and since 2016 has produced the GotMead Live podcast, featuring mead making info and mead experts from all over the world and syndicated on all the major podcast services.
During the entire time of GotMead’s operation, I have kept the site, forum and podcast free to mead folk, keeping only a small portion set aside for our Patrons, who pay $30/year to get a curated space to gather and talk and learn mead.
Unfortunately, that Patron membership does not come anywhere close to covering the cost of running Gotmead, which approaches $10,000 per year.
Since GotMead started, I have myself provided the funds to keep GotMead out there, giving mead information to all who wish it.
This was funded partly from my personal pocket, and partly from the profits from my business as a marketing consultant and website designer.
This has worked pretty well for 24 years.
Then the pandemic hit.
Business dried up. I was laid off from my position as Executive Director for an industry non-profit. My second largest marketing client had to stop paying for the work I was doing for them. And several new clients found themselves in the tough position of having to hold off on their plans for me to work with them, because of the pandemic.
And no new business is coming in. But I keep looking for new business, and have every confidence that I’ll be able to rebuild. It just takes time.
That doesn’t save GotMead though, because I’m looking at months to recover, and as that happens, one of the things I cannot fund while I rebuild is GotMead. That requires funds I just don’t have right now.
So I ask you, the mead loving folks, to consider helping out.
I want to keep GotMead up, and providing mead info to the world. And I hope you do too.
Please consider helping to keep GotMead running while I work on getting back on my feet so I can continue to fund it going forward.
Donations will be used to pay for Gotmead's expenses that include hosting, podcasting software and storage, and site software and updates.
Can’t donate? Please share. Even a quick share on Facebook can help.
