Hi everyone! My name is Nghi Tran & I have created this space for my Mom as she's going into chemotherapy for the third time in 5 years. I hate that I have to ask for this kind of help again.
This may sound like a broken record to some - hell, it feels and sounds like it to myself but here we are. My Mom has been living with metastatic colon cancer for a few years now meaning there's no cure. In 2018 she braved a major debulking surgery but unfortunately, they were unable to completely remove the tumor in her lymph node. Straight to treatment post surgery, her oncologist was able to reduce the size enough to consider it "safe" for her to pause chemo through an intense regimen for 11 long months.
My Mom slowly started getting back into a routine. Catching up on medical bills, going back to work with my Dad, shopping, cooking, all the little things we take for granted. Fast forward 9 months and here we go again. The lymph node tumor is growing and she will be starting treatment this month.
It doesn't get easier. She's getting older and the side effects of chemo can be really brutal to your organs. I can't explain how frustrating it is for her and our family when we have to through this over and over. It drains you - physically, mentally, financially. I don't know how many more times she can put her body through this.
Thank you to everyone who has helped before & want to help now. I really can't express my gratitude enough. Even with insurance, her treatments are expensive (feel free to ask me if you're curious.) She'll be getting 3 different forms of chemotherapy which is why it cost a lot more this time but her oncologist thinks the more aggressive we are with it, the more effective it will be. Some days feel so long and never ending with one thing after another, all we can do is keep going so we will.
