Update #1

Hi friends! My name is Lauren York and here is a little backstory on myself and how I began Kansas City Strong Apparel.

In 2015 I was 18 years old attending my entrepreneur and business classes at K-State University. Sitting in class I had the realization that I wanted to start my own company. Trying to brainstorm what I would do as an artist and a businesswoman I decided to create my very own t-shirt company.

In the first year, I was able to breakeven. In the second-year, I began seeing profits. And by the third year, I was able to quit my 40-hour-a-week job. Fast forward to now, five years later, and I am thriving and continuously growing every year. I am also proud to say I have nearly surpassed the statistic that most small businesses fail in the first five years.

With that being said, my most crucial part of the year is Spring/Summer as I attend festivals in my area and a few surrounding areas. Due to COVID-19 all of those festivals have been canceled or postponed until further notice. As you can guess this has affected my lively-hood and the ability to continue making sales as well as employing friends/family.

I have reached out to the government in hopes to be a part of the Paycheck Protection Program, but they no longer have enough funding for small businesses.

I am starting this GoFundMe in an effort to stay afloat in this time of need. I want to take the stay-at-home order as seriously as possible; to do so, I need funds to keep my home-life stable. I currently live with my partner and our three dogs, as well as we recently found a pregnant cat and now have 7 beautiful felines living with us. My partner works in the food industry and has also lost her job due to the virus. Any help I receive will be directly used for company taxes, inventory debt, bills, groceries, food for the animals, and vet appointments for our new mother and her babies. Any amount helps and we are extremely thankful for your support.

I also just want to say I am beyond thankful that the only problems I am experiencing right now are some financial difficulties. My heart and prayers go out to all of those who have lost family members or are personally ill. I am very grateful to be healthy and by staying home I hope to aid in the end of this pandemic.

I am taking this time to perfect my website, so excuse some broken links or errors. Thanks.
