About Me

I am a recent college graduate who is attempting to find her place in the world. Having just recently started my first full time job post-college, I am hoping to start making a difference in any way I can. I have a passion for culture and understanding different walks of life. Growing up in a wealthy country gave me a lot of privileges that others do not have based solely on where they live. I feel I will be successful in my endeavors to help others if I am able to give back even a small portion of what I have been given up to this point in my life. However, I can't do this alone. With your support we will be able to build homes for families in need and help repair a community to allow it's members to meet their basic needs. Consider this: in one year the average American household spends $850 on soda, $975 on T.V. and sound equipment, and $2,619 on eating out. Cutting out even ONE of these things for one week and donating that money to Habitat for Humanity El Salvador would be life changing for a family in need. Come partner with me to help those in need! Muchos Gracias!

More Info

Home to almost 6 million people, El Salvador is the smallest and most densely populated country in Central America. Still struggling with the consequences of a 12-year civil war and constantly affected by natural disasters such as earthquakes and tropical storms, almost 3 million Salvadorans live in inadequate housing.

Since 1992, Habitat for Humanity El Salvador has provided more than 7,400 housing solutions, providing simple, decent and affordable shelter for more than 37,000 Salvadorians.

We invite you to join our Global Village team in partnering with families in need to help build safe, affordable, decent homes.

Thrivent and Habitat

From the first nail to the last, building a home with Habitat for Humanity International is a profound experience for all involved. It’s not just sticks and blocks. It’s tears and smiles, borne of hard work and faith. And it’s the knowledge that you’ve helped change lives.

That’s why Thrivent Financial for Lutherans works with Habitat. And it’s why we want to do more. Much more. Thrivent Builds with Habitat for Humanity engages Lutheran congregations, Thrivent chapters and members, Habitat affiliates, and individuals from across the United States and around the world to build hundreds of homes per year with families in need, provide mission trips for Christian outreach in local and foreign communities, and directly reduce poverty housing and homelessness around the world.

Part of Thrivent Financial’s mission as a faith-based membership organization is caring for others. Participating in this program with Habitat is a prime example of this mission in action.

About Thrivent Builds Worldwide

The Thrivent Builds program combines the financial, volunteer and advocacy resources of Thrivent Financial together with the affordable housing leadership of Habitat for Humanity International.  Thrivent Builds Worldwide teams are led by members of Thrivent Financial and build in one of the Thrivent Builds community destinations – El Salvador and the Mississippi Gulf Coast – or any other location where Habitat’s Global Village program sends teams. Global Village is Habitat for Humanity’s international volunteer program. Teams travel to over 40 countries to work alongside communities, build housing solutions, and experience local culture. Our goal is to change the lives of the people we serve, as well as the lives of the volunteers.

About Habitat for Humanity International

Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort on a community farm in southern Georgia. The housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 1,300 communities throughout the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. Families and individuals in need of a hand up partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. To learn more, visit habitat.org.
