I’m raising money for my daughter who was hospitalized again over Christmas & is starting her last resort drug after 10 years of UC suffering. She has 6 more mos. of nursing school but now has terrible financial strain.
kate has been fighting Ulcerative Colitis for 10 year-not an enjoyable way to go through your 20’s. Her disease has had her on a roller coaster of hospitalizations, wonderful but short remissions, pain & a myriad of medications with terrible side effects. Through this she worked her way through a Masters Degree in Social Work while working as a Nanny and Household Manager, and is now 6 months from becoming a Registered Nurse. She has watched friends marry and have families, but due to the severe nature of her UC has not found that happiness. UC is truly a crappy disease and there is so much still unknown about it. Kate is my daughter and it has torn my heart out to watch her struggle all these years, but somehow she has kept her sense of humor (she says “what else am I going to do ?” She has strength beyond my imagination! While she puts up this brave front at times I see chunks in the armor. The mental, physical and financial strain is unbelievable. We are not a wealthy family and so I thought I would reach out to others who might find it in their heart to help. It’s not easy to ask for financial help-not at all. But a mom will do anything for her child to ease their pain. Kate has many medical bills from the years of treatments and most importantly right now we are trying to get her healthy enough to finish nursing school starting in January 2020. She wants to help others and “pay it forward”. She needs financial help to finish nursing school and pay her rent for her school apartment. Down the road if this last resort drug does not work she will have to have her colon removed. She is having trouble both working and going to school at the same time. Blessings to anyone who chooses to help! Please know it will be paid forward and appreciated more than words can say!
