More Info

Here's some information about what I'll be doing and what I'm getting out of the trip!

At the end of the course, students will be able to demonstrate a basic understanding of:

  • Globe Performance Practice as it relates to Shakespeare;
  • How space and architecture impacts and shapes performance in early modern theatre;
  • How British history has shaped and impacted theatre in the U.K.; and
  • Shakespeare's life: his biography, context, and canon.

I will travel to London and live there for four weeks while in residence with Globe Education faculty and staff at the historic and legendary, Shakespeare's Globe. I will have unfettered access to Globe archives, library, and museum and get to peek backstage at how the Globe operates as a major, internationally recognized theatre. This program allows me to explore Shakespeare and early modern theatre in the spaces it was written for. Rehearse on stage at The Globe and perform in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Visit some of the top museums in the world, stay in one of the world's most vibrant cities, and see some of the best English speaking theatre from the West End, to The National Theatre, to the Old Vic and learn what it's like to "live like a Londoner."

This faculty-led education abroad program offers students to study theatre, performance, and Shakespeare in one of the world's greatest theatre capitals, London!

  • Experience 7 productions in four weeks in world class theaters!
  • Day trip to Stratford Upon Avon and The Royal Shakespeare Company.
  • Weekly visits to world-renowned museums such as The Tate Modern and The National Gallery.
  • Workshops with such theatres and companies as The National Theatre and Complicite.
  • Opportunity to perform on The Globe/Sam Wannamaker Playhouse stage.
