Update #1

The donations have been excellent, but not enough and just when I see a way for me to go for income.

I am unable to pay my ISP bill this month. I won't be able to make or receive any phone calls if I lose my ISP. I use Skype for my land line service which relies on my computer being online. I won't be able to work my current project at Odesk because that is online, too. I must get that done to get an excellent reference for future work.

I won't be able to make any emergency calls either. I am concerned about my health but there are too many things happening this week that I don't know what to focus on. I had two unexpected charges to my checking account to dispute. When your account is low, it is vulnerable to unexpected charges. It takes time and effort to resolve those kinds of problems.

I have my Odesk project I really want to complete. It will earn me about a $1000 if completed. However, once again, I am distracted away from my focus on my work.

This is why family fundraiser campaigns are so wonderful to support. Here's a chance to help fix something. It's also important to support them early rather than wait. The longer you wait, the costs just go up. And so they did! Now it's going to cost even more to fix this because I looked for my own solutions and none of them worked except for Odesk.

I don't know what else to do. I cannot move. I love my home. I want to stay. I'm concerned about my health. I've been OK with that up until this month. I am low on fuel. I can't waste money going out looking for work when I cannot be sure if I will be hired. I am in fact doing productive work right now for an Odesk client the only thing right now I see will pay. I want to stay and complete this work. This client depends upon me to complete this most interesting project.

So it's not just for me, this campaign. It's because it's for business. When I complete my work, my client will be able to get something new started that should result in increased jobs.

Now are you interested? Please support me a worker who is critically low on money (in the red today because of two unexpected charges to my account). I can't do this work without money to keep my home office running. I can't afford anymore distractions.

Please help end my distress with your kind donation.

About Me

The goal of this campaign is to support self-employment as a job option. "Work at home" can be rewarding, but there are risks. The flexible hours are excellent. Freelance workers are motivated by love of their profession and solving sometime complex problems. A freelance worker does not have to commute daily or spend hours at meetings. The work must be completed to get paid. Unfortunately, some clients do not pay for work completed even if valid and approved acceptable. Some do not pay enough. Yes, freelance workers complete both valid and necessary work. Clients have technical tasks they want completed. IT workers are everywhere with various skills and experiences. If you are in a company that bought into technology, you are reliant on technical professionals to make it worth the investment. Where freelancers can help you is if you have small tasks too small to hire a local temp.

INTRODUCTION

The goal of this campaign is to save a home business technical office so that it can continue offering services. It is hoped that after reading this you will understand why funds are needed and what's in it for you.

BACKGROUND

Brief History

In my family history, the primary sources of income were teaching and engineering. In the 1980s my father, Sydney W. Frey, Jr. formed E.C.R. & D., an engineering consulting firm. My mother, Patricia L. Frey, worked as an English teacher. On April 15th, 1999, my father passed away suddenly and without warning. We were never the same family after that day. My brother moved to Mesa, AZ to work at the Phoenix airport. My sister moved to a group home in Pewaukee, WI. My mother retired and moved to Green Valley, WI. I remained in the Waukesha area, moving to my current home in the city of Waukesha.

Where We Are Now

I am the main support for my sister who needs me for trips from her home. Only relatives may remove residents from her house. We go on local outings together. I run a club website. I work at home as a web builder, focused on gaining skills as I practice my craft. My mother has supported me, but there are limits. She has her medical bills. Other family financial support is very limited. If you are in a family that gives all the time, you may not know that not all families do that. For me it only comes from my mother and no one else.

Employment-Seeking Is Not Easy!

While I have struggled to build my home life, it's been met with a number of unfortunate incidents. I list below the types of scams that can harm a job seeker's income and even make things worse. There are many distractions that can compromise job seeking and the employment application process. Getting constant calls from Green Dot loan scammers and phony bill collectors, debt consolidation companies interfere with work at home. I have to filter my calls. This makes getting real employment-related calls even harder. How would you feel if you are out of money. Rent is due or you lose your home. You fill out what looks to be a Target employment application. You get a call, but it's a pitch to sell education services. (They took my personal information, so that looks to me to be identity theft.)

Support Freelance Contractors So We Are There For You

Do you see what I am up against? I want to continue offering home-based services because I think it's the best place for me. I have the skills and background. I have my excellent workstation I have invested money in building. (See photo above.) I work to improve everyday with practice. I want to be of service to you and the community, but if I don't have regular funding I can't pay rent, my ISP, my phone bill and my WE Energies. You can see the regular W-2 work I have done recently. Jobs are things you win, not just get. Professionals have to convince the recruiters that they are a good match for a company. It can be hard getting past that.

Please take a look at a summary of my background. Would you hire someone with that on their resume?

STOP EMPLOYMENT FRAUD

Watch out for:

  • Employment Application Phishing - A real company logo may appear on form. It's a ploy to gain leads for educational services.
  • Fake HR Interview - A real company name used. Interview appears authentic. Promises start up money. Asks to fill out real HR forms.
  • Ebay Job - Post stuff on eBay for a drop ship agent. There is a risk the merchandise was purchased fraudulently.
  • Printing Job - Asked to research local printing services. Given a collection of thumbnail images, too small to print professionally. Client claims to be an artist or loves art.
  • Fake Car Wrap - Watch out for car wrap scams. (Some are legit, but require fees to participate since the wraps are expensive.)
