Judy loved sharing the gift of music with children. Her family is creating an elementary school music scholarship in her name, to help students afford instruments who would otherwise be unable to play.
Music was a very important part of Judy's life. Her father, Martin Kurka, also taught music in public schools. They even taught together for several years in the Appleton Public School System, before Martin retired. Judy played and taught many instruments; her favorites were harp and violin. She was also a talented composer, and encouraged her students to compose music as well, creating books of their original pieces.
This music scholarship will be through the Neenah Joint School District, where Judy spent the majority of her teaching career inspiring young musicians. Our goal is to create an annual scholarship, so Judy's legacy will live on far into the future, giving the gift of music to generations.
