Joyce and Althea Emergency Fund

Joyce and Althea Emergency Fund

From Joyce Godsey

In May I was let go abruptly from a job I held for 6 years, then my car died and vet bills ate my savings. We are in arrears on taxes and utilities and need to get even before Dec or dire consequences will ensue.

Thank you to all of you wonderful lovely people... I am so so humbled at your generosity and well wishes. Thanks to your donations, I have been able to finally fix the heat and make a dent in last years utility bill. I've been able to repair the water damage under the porch window. All of the vet bills have been paid and Franklin is doing much much better. Althea is doing good on her new allergy meds. The only expense that is still standing between us and oblivion is the property tax bill for which I am still quite short. I am about $1500 short. This week will be the last push on this Fundly program.

Remember thank you for all your largess not matter what size. Even people who could only send thoughts and prayers are enormously appreciated, because it lets us know we aren't alone. I prefer to be the one doing the giving, and am determined to go back to being that person very soon.

Joyce, Althea, Franklin, Charlie and Sammy.

More Info

I have been putting this off for weeks and months, in the hopes that I could make enough money to refill the coffers, but I can't keep pretending that is going to happen.  Through the kindness of friends I have been able to find enough work to keep Althea and what's left of the Furry Circus fed and healthy. But there have been no extra funds to go into savings or pay last years outstanding debts for taxes and heating.

In May I was let go unexpectedly after 6 years, by one of my bookkeeping clients, and 2 weeks later my 2013 Forrester threw a connector rod and now masquerades as a lawn ornament.  Over the last few months I have lost 4 of my elderly pets, each in turn draining more of the savings account.

There have been very few online jobs to replace the income lost, so everyday I work on long term projects which will hopefully bring in slow money in future, but there is not much left to sell around the homestead to solve any large problems.

Some of you reading this have already donated generously towards keeping us in kibbles and bits and it is well appreciated. Whether you bought a vintage item or purely gifted us funds, you are in our hearts and we long to reciprocate and welcome any job opportunities.

Setting up any sort of fundraising in todays economic atmosphere is an act of desperation, especially one that isn't related to medical debt.   As many of our friends and loved ones are in situations equal or worse to ours, we can't expect those without resources to stretch beyond their limits.

We, (the royal WE of Althea and myself, as she has a lot more fans than I do), are hoping that a small amount from many donors will allow us to keep living in our tiny house while I cobble together a basic maintenance income from my many occupations.

Thank you for reading this far.

Joyce, Althea, Franklin, Charlie and Sammy.
