Joy To Give Night is a fundraising event for child literacy in Gwinnett.
It'll feature Angelica Hale, a singer and 2017 AGT Runner Up, and Henry Cho, a comedian and former host of NBC's Friday Nights Videos.
As an immigrant and a brand spanking new American citizen, I know firsthand how literacy opened doors for me and my family. My parents and ESL teachers worked hard and their work led me to enjoy good education and life here.
Literacy is fundamental to thriving individuals and community. And Illiteracy contributes to poverty, poor public health and crime.
Catalyst is a nonprofit that works w/ communities, churches, schools in Gwinnett to tackle child literacy crisis.
Their program is unique in that they not only focus on minority children but also their parents.
They want to ensure that parents can
1) teach and stay involved in kids' education and 2) be productive members of their community & workforce. This resonates as dinner table was my favorite classroom.
I've been helping in small ways by setting up their computers and donating books. I'm hoping our South Muley family can join forces and help tackle this challenge in Atlanta.
Pls come to Joy To Give Night event (buy tickets here) or consider donating directly on this Fundly page.
