We are raising money for sweet Jenny's medical treatment. She was recently discovered to have a Thymoma/mass which we are hoping to treat with steroids and radiation. This is requiring travel and boarding.

We have a great update and an unbelievable, incredible update all wrapped into today!
Jenny had her CT scan. Dr. Proux stated it wasn't the worst that he had seen and based on her easy going temperament, felt she had was an excellent candidate for treatment.
Now, the most incredible news of all. When Erin was talking to Dr. Proux about Jenny's history, it came up that she was a rescue sanctuary bun and he learned about her history of meeting Erin when she was volunteering at the Oakland shelter. Dr. Proux then made a conscious decision to help Rusty and Furriends and charge less, even though he has state-of-the-art equipment. Nothing could make our jaws drop lower or our hearts soar higher at this moment! All of your prayers, support and good karma are coming to fruition in tangible ways!
In the honor of transparency we have uploaded the estimates into the main photos and you can see what an incredible discount we are being offered on the treatment. Sometimes good things happen to good people. You will also notice that the fundraising goal has been lowered to $5,000 to reflect the discount. The original amount was based on information given to us before transferring care to Dr. Proux. We still have behind the scenes costs for her care, such as multiple transportation needs, food, enrichment, housing needs for her, as well as a reserve for any complications related to her treatment.
Sweet Jenny was an orphan from Oakland Animal Services. She has been such a sweet lady since we met her after coming into the shelter in December 2014. We reconnected with her at Save a Bun in December 2017 and couldn't say no to bringing this love home. Even though she will be 7 this year, she has been the model of perfect health and lady-like behavior until now.
In April 2021, we though she was going through a bout of stasis but the usual protocol was not working and her eyes were slightly bulging. An xray determined it was caused by a mass around her heart.
We cannot allow such a sweet and otherwise perfectly healthily bun to not get treated. Treatment will be done with a specialist in California. We have already spent almost $500 for her initial visit and will be spending around $500 for an ultrasound of her heart. We are awaiting the costs of doing a around of steroids for her before radiation. The radiation will be around $2,000 a treatment and will require travel and boarding costs. We are looking to raise at least $8,000 to fully fund her necessary treatments. If we do raise more money than is needed, the extra money will go towards medical expenses of the other buns in our care.

Jenny is on her way to San Diego! Cheers! As you can see, our lovely lady is just tipping the scale at 7lbs! We will have to keep a good on eye on weight and see how much muscle wasting she will unfortunately have due to the ongoing steroid use and radiation. But she does have an extra pound to spare (don't we all!), so we hope she will be ok weight-wise. Keep our Jenny in your thought and prayers today and hug your furry friends.

The ultrasound was done on the 23rd. It shows the mass curving around her heart. But it is a strong heart and we are grateful for your support!
