We've had a heck of a morning! I woke up to my dog having fallen off the couch yelping and having a seizure. I am autistic and Jasper works as my emotional support dog. For right now, we need to pay for the blood tests.
I'm hoping this seizure was just a one-off thing. But I still need to pay for the blood tests to find out what might be wrong.
I have autism, and Jasper has been my Emotional Support Animal for four years. He's done a good job, helping me stay grounded, get outside and be active, try new things, and he'll accompany me to social events if they allow dogs. I don't know what I would do without him. He is very smart, and we enjoy hiking at the big dog park on the Mississippi.
At 7am, I woke up to Jasper falling off the couch and yelping, having urinated and defecated on himself. He was violently paddling and convulsing, yelping the whole time. After moving a stool he got tangled up in, I grabbed a blanket from the couch to try to cushion his head from hitting furniture, and that was when he stopped convulsing. I don't think it was more than a minute.
We went to the vet, and they didn't see anything immediately wrong with him, but they did do blood tests to see if his levels were off.
Update: Heard back from the vet. All Jasper's tests were normal. He's been behaving pretty normally, so all that's left to do is keep an eye out.
