Like James C. Williamson, I played football and ran track. (Well we called soccer football, but still...) Just like universities in South Africa that could refuse to admit me, UCLA could have refused to admit him.  But it didn't.  Making James C. Williamson the first black student athlete in UCLA history.  Help me honor my alma mater for championing equity, diversity and inclusion, by creating the James C. Williamson Award.  This new award will be presented annually on the fourth Tuesday of April each year to candidates who themselves champion equity, diversity and inclusion.  "Optimism is a moral choice."  And people who make that choice deserve the James C. Williamson Award.  I would greatly appreciate your help with this campaign. Thank you.
