More Info

Jacob has been blessed with two Occupational Therapist professional parents.  They were quick to realize when his legs were not developing as expected.  After many doctor appointments and imaging, Jacob has been diagnosed with knee contractures in both legs with right knee subluxation.  The family has been traveling to Rochester, NY every 2 weeks for new casts to try to correct Jacob's legs.  After his third and planned final set of casts, the Perkin's family was ecstatic to see their 18 month old finally crawl.  However, the excitement was short lived as it is now clear that his legs and progress are regressing again, only a few short weeks after his last set of casts.  Poor Jacob is very uncomfortable.  To make matters worse, the insurance company has denied claims for over $14,000 stating some tests were elective and some procedures shouldn't have been completed in Rochester instead of Elmira, even though all of Jacob's doctors have been in Rochester.  $14,000 later, the Perkins family desperately needs more testing and to travel further in hopes of answers to help their youngest boy.  No parent should have to worry about paying bills verse getting their child help they need.  No child should have critical development delayed because of medical bills.  While the Perkins parents will continue to fight to get insurance to cover procedures to date, please help them continue the search for answers for Jacob, so that he may some day soon run around with big brothers, Henry (3) and Micah (15).  Any help is appreciated.
