Update #2

Good Evening Family & Friends and Happy Ironman’s Eve!

I just wanted to get one last update out before the big race. After countless hours trying to find oxygen in this thin Colorado air and an unfortunate amount of pool water swallowed, it’s time to ditch the duckie floaties, pull the basket and bell off my bike, and velcro up my running shoes for the 70.3 mile Ironman tomorrow.

First and foremost, THANK YOU!! You managed to exceed my fundraising goal of $7,030! The charity I am working with, Face It TOGETHER, touts a $12 impact for every $1 donation. That means that together we have generated over $100,000 of social impact to help those fighting addiction get the support they need!

For those of you who haven’t given just yet, maybe you have 5 quick minutes right now? Either way, thank you all for your support!!

I’ll be sure to let you know if I survive the weekend.

Hi Family & Friends,

In honor of my dad, Chip Sample, I'm competing in this year's Half Ironman in Boulder, CO on August 3.  But I want to do more than just compete and finish for him. I want to find a way to honor his legacy and hopefully generate awareness and hope for a very difficult disease, addiction.

So in addition to the hours I’ve spent training for this, I’ve decided to raise money for an incredible non-profit, Face It Together. Their mission is to get drug and alcohol addiction sufferers well through the power of peer recovery coaching. The solution marries social mission with entrepreneurship and business innovation to fundamentally transform the way our nation deals with this costly and devastating disease. Their services are not just for those battling addiction, they also have a program that supports loved ones and family members. 100% of the funds raised will be dedicated to scholarships so more people can access recovery coaching.

I am asking all those who can, to donate one dollar for every one mile I am going to finish.  The Half Ironman includes a 1.2 mile swim, a 56 mile bike ride, and a half marathon run (13.1 miles) for a total of 70.3 miles or a $70.30 donation on your part.

My goal is to raise $7,030 by the time I race on August 3.Thank you for your love, support and generosity.

Update #1

Hello Supporters!

First and foremost... THANK YOU!! I can't tell you how much it means to me to see the notes and donations that you have given. To those who had technical difficulties in attempting to donate, those have been corrected so please give what/when you can.

Secondly, I'm about 4 weeks out and training harder than ever have in my life! I don't want to just survive this, I want to outperform expectations.

Finally, I would like to issue a challenge to you all. Please go find just ONE person to contribute to this cause. I set a lofty goal and I know that I don't stand a chance of achieving this alone.

Stay tuned as I have a BIG challenge that I will issue next week.

Bests,
Scott
