DAVESTRONG

Being the fundamentally generous and thoughtful person that he was, Dave made it clear that in the event of his death, he wished to donate his body to science for cancer research. Unfortunately, after Dave died the Virginia State Anatomical Program rejected him as a candidate, and Dave did not make any alternative arrangements. Thus, the family has been left to pay for his arrangements.

Funds:

All funds raised here will go toward:

  • $600: A cemetery marker for Dave. This includes the stone, design and engraving, transportation, and placement of the stone at Amherst Cemetery in Amherst, Virginia.
  • $800: Interment (burial) of Dave's ashes at Amherst Cemetery.
  • $100: Food and/or venue rental costs for a reception in Dave's honor in the Lynchburg area (date and place to be determined. This figure could be higher depending on the venue.)

All excess funds will be donated to the University of Virginia Cancer Center, where Dave received excellent treatment as well as a lot of care and support over the past few years. I (Dave's brother) am also creating a t-shirt fundraiser, all of the proceeds from which will go to the UVA Cancer Center.
