An unfortunate misunderstanding of the HOA insurance coverage and her personal coverage left Sherry underinsured with Hurricane Helene. For the first time flood waters breached her home, taking out the electricity for 4 days in Shore Acres. All of her furniture has been contaminated and the mix of salt, waste, and run off water permeated most of her belongings. Sherry has given compassionate care to so many individuals and families in her profession as an RN, most recently with Hospice. And still works per-diem in her retirement years as a Hospice RN. We hope you can extend to Sherry some compensation in her time of need. Sherry’s home is not in a livable condition and the HOA has asked that all salvageable items be removed as they work on the structural repairs and they will be remediating the drywall and floors. The HOA is managing the water remediation and because of the age of the building asbestos testing was required. Very high levels of asbestos was found across all units, so now the EPA is involved and the entirety of the drywall must be removed. Resulting in a longer period of time that Sherry is displaced from her condominium home and longer time for holding a storage unit.
Funds raised for Sherry will go towards reestablishing her home with the repair costs not covered by the HOA policy with the additional EPA involvement, replacing furnishings including sofa, chairs, desk, television, cabinetry, mattresses, dressers, credenza. If available, funds will also be used towards the storage unit expense, cost of movers, and temporary housing for an anticipated 9 months.
With the most gratitude - Thank You.
