Thank you to everyone who has contributed thus far. We're running this fundraiser for 10 more days.

We appreciate any additional support you're able to provide from both donations and sharing this fundraiser on Facebook.

More Info

Hurricane Harvey, Irma, and Maria have caused catastrophic and tragic destruction. The impacted regions will be in desperate need of financial support to help heal and recover from this incredible disaster. And now, Hurricane Nate is quickly closing in on New Orleans and many other parts of Louisiana and Mississippi.

Across Houston, The Keys, and Puerto Rico, these areas will take years and a truly global effort to aid in the region’s recovery, but the work starts now. With Hurricane Nate impacting the Southern US and Caribbean, the need for donations and support is only increasing. That’s why this campaign was created.

My goal with this campaign is to raise $100,000 to send to nonprofits serving the communities that have been depleted by Hurricane Nate, Irma,  Maria, and Harvey.

My hope is that, as a community, we can far surpass the $100,000 mark and send life-changing money to the people of the Caribbean who are in dire need of outside support.

As someone who works in the nonprofit industry, I'm intimately familiar with the fundraising process and how far just one person's donation can go. I'm constantly inspired by the great work of the countless nonprofits and donors I encounter, and I expect to be equally inspired by the support given to the recent Hurricane victims.

Please join me in this campaign. No donation is too small. Every dollar matters.

Thank you!

Update #10

Thank you to everyone who has contributed thus far. We have just a few days left on this fundraiser so there's still time to make a donation if you'd like to.

While we may not reach the full goal, the funds raised will go a long way in helping with the Hurricane Maria & Irma Relief Efforts.

Update #9

I wanted to take a moment and write a quick update based on the news I’ve seen coming in from Puerto Rico.

Here’s a direct update, taken from the Chicago Sun Times’ article (http://chicago.suntimes.com/news/hurricane-maria-smashes-dominica-on-track-for-puerto-rico/):

“The strongest hurricane to hit Puerto Rico in over 80 years tore off roofs and doors, knocked out power across the entire island, and unleashed heavy flooding Wednesday in an onslaught that could plunge the U.S. territory deeper into financial crisis.”

The mayor of San Juan even estimated that the power could be out for months, not days or weeks.

It is horrifying and tragic to see the reports keep coming in, but I remain truly inspired by not only the work you all have put into this campaign but also the countless reports of people stepping up in big ways to help one another.

I hope this trend of service continues because the Caribbean is going to need our help long after these hurricanes fall out of the news cycle.

As always, thank you for your support in this community fundraising effort. I firmly believe we can reach our goal.

Sincerely,
Adam

Update #8

This update is tough one to write. As I type this, yet another powerful hurricane is making its way towards the islands of the Caribbean. This time, it’s Hurricane Maria (currently a Category 4).

I’m scared for what is to come after seeing the devastation brought on by first Harvey and then Irma. Right now, Maria is on a direct path to Puerto Rico.

If you haven’t already, please consider donating to this campaign and sharing it with your friends and family. The campaign has 12 days left, and if we really push ourselves, I know we can reach our goal.

I recognize that our initial goal was to help the victims of Irma, but we’re now going to need to step up and help the victims of Maria as well.

Thank you so much for your continued support.

Update #7

Hurricane Irma has now officially made its way through the state of Florida and into Georgia, Alabama, and the rest of the Southeastern United States. While its winds have lessened, Irma has caused unthinkable damage everywhere it has made landfall and continues to do so.

Seeing what Irma is capable of, even where I am in Atlanta, really drives home how terrifying it must have been for those in the Caribbean islands and Florida.

It’ll likely take days for us to truly have an accurate measure of just how much damage has been caused by Irma. But as the estimates roll in, we need to remain vigilant about fundraising and sending money to those who will put it to proactive and effective use.

I’m genuinely extremely thankful for what you all have helped me accomplish so far. And I know, that if we all keep sharing this campaign, we’re going to reach our goal, and we might even push past it.

Irma victims need us.

Stay safe,
Adam

Update #6

As I’m sure you all know, Hurricane Irma has made landfall in Florida and things are not looking good.

I’m so thankful to each of you for helping this campaign move closer to its goal. Now is the time to kick things into a higher gear. I’m going to do all I can to promote our fundraiser, and I hope you will too.

Stay safe! And if you or a loved one has been affected by Irma, please know, my thoughts are with you.

Thank you,
Adam

Update #5

The news continues to get worse. Irma’s death toll is up to 18 and is expected to increase as search and rescue continues. Most areas hit by the storm will take millions of dollars and years to recover.

And now, Hurricane Jose is a Category #3 and is on a trajectory that closely mirror’s Irma’s.

What will come of Florida and the rest of the southeastern United States is yet to be seen. But I continue to be immensely grateful for and inspired by the support you all have shown. We’re at $12,670 and still going strong.

Let’s keep it up!

Thank you,
Adam

Update #4

I am totally blown away by the support you all have shown for this campaign. You have truly stepped up, and I can’t even begin to express how grateful I am for each and every one of you.

We’ve currently raised $12,410 and counting, and I’m so excited about the momentum we’ve built.

My heart breaks each time I see a news update and learn more about the damage done by Irma. But seeing this community form to help start the healing process in the Caribbean is truly inspiring.

Thank you, everyone. And for those in Irma’s predicted path, please be safe.

Update #3

Thank you to everyone who has already donated. As news continues to come in about Irma and the destruction, it is even more apparent how much the Caribbean needs our help right now.

So far, Irma has caused massive devastation in Barbuda and the British Virgin Islands, flooding and power outages in Puerto Rico, battered Haiti and the Dominican Republic on its way by, and is now headed toward Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas.

According to CNN (http://www.cnn.com/2017/09/07/us/hurricane-irma-caribbean-florida/index.html), 10 people have lost their lives as a result of Irma already. We need to be doing all we can to help the people of these islands begin on a path to recovery.

I sincerely thank you all for your support. And I hope you’ll share this campaign with your friends and family to help get the word out.

Update #2

More news is coming from the Caribbean and it's not good.

According to recent news outlets ( https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2017/sep/06/hurricane-irma-caribbean-islands-category-5-storm), "The French part of the Caribbean island St Martin – the northern section of the island that is split with the Netherlands-administered St Maarten – has been “95% destroyed”, Daniel Gibb, a local official, has told Radio Caribbean International. He added, "It’s an enormous catastrophe. Ninety-five percent of the island is destroyed."

Thank you to everyone who has already contributed to this fundraiser.

Update #1

Thank you to those who've donated already! The first pictures have emerged of the damage wrought by Hurricane Irma in the Caribbean. The eye of the storm passed over Barbuda at about 1.47am, the US National Weather Service said and heavy rain and howling winds raked the neighboring island of Antigua. The pictures and videos are coming out with major damage evident.

Please join me in supporting the disaster relief efforts.
